Welcome to the RNA Helicase database!
This database is the completely updated version of the DExH/D Protein database from 2000. We have expanded the scope and now aim to provide systematic information on all RNA helicases. The database is structured according to helicase superfamilies and families, as explained in the Figures below.
Figure 1. RNA helicases are found in the helicase superfamilies (SF) 1-5. For more information on helicase superfamilies consult the RNA helicase primer in this database and Singleton et al., Ann. Rev. Biochem. 76, 23 (2007)
Figure 2. The SF1 and 2 are further subdivided into families, and RNA helicases are found in the families marked with the red R. Other families contain DNA helicases. For more information on SF1 and SF2 families consult the RNA helicase primer and Fairman-Williams et al., Curr. Opin. Struct Biol. 20, 313 (2010)
